WATERFOWL HUNTING
The Big Horn can be an epic place to hunt ducks. Duck populations are large and the habitat is perfect –
Drake Lodge has several blinds located right on the river all within walking distance of the lodge’s front door. There’s no need to get up hours before for a long drive as you’re already here. Our guides will handle all decoys and dogs.
Bring your gun or borrow one of ours. When you are done for the day have a hot meal and warm up by the fire get comfortable and relax while we clean your catch.
Waterfowl that pass through this area are Mallards, Gadwall, Widgeon, Pintail, Teal, Golden Eye, Canadian Geese, and Snow Geese. It’s not uncommon to harvest your limit by 9 am when the hunting is good.
Since we are a tailwater, the BigHorn River stays open longer into the season and most winters never freeze over. This means the ducks and geese are happy to be here.
